Gender Preference in Job Ads

I am currently an (half) active job seeker. I found a very interesting case where I never found it before during my job seeking which was "gender preference". The job that I am looking for is a general job that does not really a need a specific role that prefer certain gender to do so. What I mean is not something trivial like women tends to go on detail so secretary jobs would prefer women because women will do better, or mechanics would be better for men because it screams "masculine". No. One thing I mean that would need gender preference would be something like counselor for victim of violence or rape, that for me that case would always be better to having the gender preference as of course there would be trauma for the victim to communicate with certain gender.

So, the job that I am looking for are something around analyst or research, and about economic. So, do economic or research scream masculine or feminine? I probably would understand better if that company runs the field that society would scream certain gender like construction for male and nursing for female. But again the company is not on the field that scream certain gender. The company runs on business or investment consulting. One thing that pop-up in my mind probably that the organization wants a gender balance, but I do believe that it should not be a problem for the organization as long as the workers there doing their jobs perfectly regardless of the gender balance or not.

However, regardless of how the mention "preferably certain-gender", and I am not that certain-gender I still applied for the job. Well actually I applied even before the job-posting, so I did not know about the gender rule until I was invited for the job interview. I knew that because, I had to check their official web regarding the position they offered then I read about their gender preference. Well, again, I was still invited to their interview even though I am not that certain-gender, so at least they still give chance for the opposite certain-gender.However, I feel like if I hadn't applied that job and I look at the ads and there is a certain gender preference and I am the opposite gender, I would have discouraged to applied. How if, people that discouraged well, is better, than the person who has advantage on certain-gender. I bet it is the company loss, to achieve the gender balance purpose.

Well, if I am that company HR, though the company wants a certain-gender whatever the purpose is, I would never posted the gender preference on the job ads. Would never. It would be better if it just circulate only on their own side, not the oustsider because people like me would side-eyeing that company because I would never understand with that kind of decision.

I wrote not because I disappointed because I was rejected. No. It just few days after the interview and the results still not been released, and I think I am the first person they interviewed. Also, I think I gave a very best interview performance as I think I certainly meet their requirement, having solid background, and I was confident during the interview told about all of those because yeah I want to show how even I am the opposite of their gender preference I can be as good as what they are looking for. It just a disappointment because why gender preference on a neutral-gender jobs still exists.
